Cookie Policy
This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies Kovyxa uses, why we use them, and what choices you have.
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help websites remember your preferences and session information between visits or page loads.
In addition to cookies, we may use localStorage and sessionStorage (browser storage technologies) to store your login state and application preferences on your device.
2. Cookies We Use
Kovyxa uses only the following categories of cookies. We do not use advertising, tracking, or third-party analytics cookies.
| Cookie / Key | Type | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
| kovyxa-auth | Strictly Necessary | Stores your authentication token to keep you logged in | Session / 30 days |
| kovyxa-journey | Strictly Necessary | Caches your match and conversation data in localStorage for faster loading | Until logout |
| kovyxa-profile | Strictly Necessary | Stores your profile data locally to avoid repeated API calls | Until logout |
| kovyxa-theme | Functional | Remembers your light/dark mode preference | 1 year |
| kovyxa-notifications-v2 | Functional | Stores notification read/unread state locally | Until logout |
3. Third-Party Cookies
Kovyxa does not embed any third-party advertising networks, social media tracking pixels, or analytics services (such as Google Analytics) that would set cookies on your device.
If you click on any external links (e.g. LinkedIn profiles shared after an identity reveal), those third-party websites have their own cookie policies and we have no control over them.
4. Web Push Notification Tokens
If you grant permission for browser push notifications, your browser generates a push subscription token which is stored on our servers. This token is used only to deliver Kovyxa notifications (e.g. new match, new message) to your device.
This is not a cookie — it is a browser API token stored server-side. You can withdraw this permission at any time from your browser settings or from Settings → Notifications in the app.
5. Strictly Necessary Cookies
The cookies marked "Strictly Necessary" above are essential for the app to function. Without them, you cannot log in, see your matches, or use the chat feature. These cookies cannot be disabled while you use Kovyxa.
6. Functional Cookies
Functional cookies improve your experience but are not essential. Examples include remembering your theme preference (dark/light mode). These are enabled by default but can be cleared from your browser settings at any time.
7. How to Control Cookies
You have several options to control or delete cookies:
- Browser settings: Most browsers allow you to view, delete, and block cookies. Instructions for common browsers:
- Log out: Logging out of Kovyxa clears your session token. Your localStorage data (matches, profile cache) is also cleared.
- Delete account: Deleting your account removes all your data from our servers, including push notification tokens.
Note: Blocking strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from logging into Kovyxa.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as we add new features or as technology changes. We will notify you of material changes in the same way as our Privacy Policy — by email and/or in-app notification at least 14 days before changes take effect.
